Hank Marvin on Rock n Roll Legends

Like Pete Tong and Britney Spears, Hank Marvin is often referred to in modern Cockney rhyming slang.

He was at the forefront of the British beat-group boom as lead guitarist with The Shadows, who were pioneers of instrumental rock ‘n roll.

The band had 34 UK hit singles backing Cliff Richard and another 35 in their own right.

Paul James from Pure’s Rock ‘n Roll Legends show caught up with Hank on his recent trip back to the UK.

Frank Allen From The Searchers

Paul James from Pure’s Rock ‘n Roll Legends show recently spoke to Frank Allen bass player with The Searchers ahead of the bands recent show at The Stockport Plaza.

The Searchers had three UK no 1s with “Sweets for My Sweet” in 1963 followed by “Needles and Pins“and “When You Walk In The Room” in 1964.

Frank also played with Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers.

Gerry Marsden On Rock 'n Roll Legends

Here is another chance to hear Paul James from our Rock ‘n Roll Legends show talking to Gerry Marsden.

Gerry and the Pacemakers are best known for being the first act to top the UK chart with their first three singles back in 1963.

You can see Gerry & the Pacemakers at the Buxton Opera House on 17 November as part of the Sixties Gold Tour.
