On Friday the government published their proposed Marriage Bill for Same-Sex Couples.

If passed, it will allow gay and lesbian couples the right to marry. It would also remove the need for trans people to dissolve an existing marriage when they transition.

Under the Rainbow has been speaking to Andrew Gilliver from the Lesbian and Gay Foundation. He’s encouraging people to contact their MPs on this issue.

Folks On The Guest List

Paul Holloway spoke to frontman Scott Anderson and guitarist-songwriter Michael Beasley from Folks ahead of their headline gig at the Deaf Institute on Saturday 2 February 2013.

Folks are tipped for big things after supporting Noel Gallacher’s High Flying Birds. The six piece come from across Manchester with vocalist Scott being a Stockport lad from Reddish.

Whalebone in session for Roots & Fusion

Shropshire based acoustical folky trio Whalebone were the first Roots & Fusion Stockport Session of 2013.

We recorded them on a busy Friday afternoon in The Tea Rooms in Heaton Chapel, where many people were surprised and pleased at the impromptu soundtrack to their lunches.

The instrumental trio of two acoustic guitars and a fiddle played a six track session featuring a mix of their own tunes, folk standards and a cover of a very well known rock classic…
