Whalebone in session for Roots & Fusion

30 January 2013 by Pure Radio

Shropshire based acoustical folky trio Whalebone were the first Roots & Fusion Stockport Session of 2013.

We recorded them on a busy Friday afternoon in The Tea Rooms in Heaton Chapel, where many people were surprised and pleased at the impromptu soundtrack to their lunches.

The instrumental trio of two acoustic guitars and a fiddle played a six track session featuring a mix of their own tunes, folk standards and a cover of a very well known rock classic…

1) Hooty Mullock
2) Wildcat
3) Sweet Child O’Mine
4) Herman The Carpenter
5) Wenlock Hare
6) Two Wild Women

Hollowbelly Live @ Chadkirk Chapel

18 July 2012 by Pure Radio

Roots & Fusion recorded the one man cigar box guitar band that is Hollowbelly at the 18th century Chadkirk Chapel in Romiley.

He played through ten of his tunes with a little intro to each one like he was playing a gig – with anecdotes about his life.

Rick had a chat with Hollowbelly about his music and also with Linn Robinson from the Stockport Council Tourism & Leisure team, who arranged for us to record at the Chapel, as well as other sessions at the Air Raid Selters, Staircase House and the Hat Works.

Spooky Stockport: The Phantom of Heaton Chapel

6 February 2012 by Pure Radio

A family is haunted by a sinister spirit with a lantern during the First World War. Another spine chilling case from Stockport’s very own X-Files.
