22 October 2009 by Pure Radio

Despite recent improvements, homophobia continues to be a problem around the country. Police collate statistics on homophobic incidents, but they are rarely seen by the public.

The Liberal Democrat MP for Hazel Grove, Andrew Stunell this week released figures on reports of homophobic crime to the police he acquired with a freedom of information request.

The figures show that 2008 saw 37 homophobic incidents reported to the police in Stockport.

Andrew Stunell spoke to Andrew Summerfield on Under the Rainbow.
