Later this month the Lesbian and Gay Foundation will be hosting a talk by local historian Paul Fairweather – about the important role Manchester played in the fight for equality.

It’ll be covering four decades in the twentieth century, and what the events mean for the lesbian, gay and bisexual community.

Paul Fairweather spoke to Under the Rainbow. He explained where the talk begins.

Dancing is a great way to exercise and socialise, at the same time. Tonight, Under the Rainbow finds out about Queer Tango dance lessons starting next week in Wilmslow for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people. Organiser Paul Fairweather started by explaining that the moves they use differ from those in Ballroom Tango.

Paul Fairweather Talks To Under The Rainbow About World Aids Day

Next Tuesday is World AIDS Day. Under the Rainbow spoke to Paul Fairweather, the Manchester Councillor who publicly spoke about his HIV status at the Manchester Pride Candlelit Vigil this year.

Paul told Under the Rainbow about the reasons behind his public disclosure, the reactions, and the stigma felt by other HIV positive people.

Paul Fairweather at LGBT History Month in Stockport

Manchester Councillor Paul Fairweather came to the Arden Arms in Stockport to do a talk about the LGBT community.

Paul has been heavily involved in local LGBT issues over the past three decades. In the late 1970s, he helped set up the first LGBT magazine in the city, Mancunian Gay.

He often speaks publicly at events such as Manchester Pride.
Under the Rainbow spoke to Paul during his visit for LGBT History Month.
