Perri McManus went over to Outwood Primary School on June 18th on the day of their annual school fair. She spoke to some of the people involved with the organisation of the fair, as well as stall holders, helpers and pupils from the school.
Last month the new Heald Green Health Centre was officially opened by John Amaechi, the former NBA Basketball star.
Before moving to the USA and becoming famous in basketball circles, John grew up in Stockport. His mother was one of the doctors at Heald Green. A plaque in the new Health Centre commemorates the work of his mother.
In 2007 John made headlines as the first major-league basketball star to come out as gay.
