Justin Johnson live at Barista Café Bar

Modern day troubadour and cigar box virtuoso, Justin Johnson recorded a session for Roots & Fusion at Barista Café Bar on the Underbank stairs in Stockport centre.

This was his first ever UK appearance, kicking off a tour including this year’s Boxstock festival in Leicester.

He played for about three quarters of an hour, including a 10 minute version of Miles Davis’ All Blues and a couple of made up on the spot tunes, one called Barista Bar Blues.

His next venture is a double album called Smoke & Mirrors in which he will play some century old instruments – www.justinjohnsonlive.com for more information.

A government report released in September suggested that homophobic abuse may now be a bigger problem than racism in football.

Hyde Football Club has been working recently with Just a Ball Game to encourage acceptance of diversity in all aspects of the game.

Lindsay, the project’s Founding Director spoke to Under the Rainbow.
