24 September 2015 by Pure Radio

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (or PReP for short) is a drug which may prevent people catching HIV.

The PROUD study enlisted over five hundred individuals that were deemed to be at high risk of catching the virus – in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the drug.

Gay and bisexual men are disproportionately affected by HIV in Stockport, and across the UK. The study recruited those from this group who were most likely to put themselves at risk.

Under the Rainbow spoke to Michael Brady, the Principal Clinical Investigator of the research at Kings College Hospital in London.
