The Revealing Oldknow’s Legacy Project aims to reveal the hidden past of Samuel Oldknow, a leading figure in the development and industrialisation of the Marple and Mellor area.

In order to build up a fuller history, the project is calling for your memories and reminiscences of Mellor Mill, the Peak Forest Canal and the Lime Kilns.

Jane Lomas spoke to Pamela Pearson from the Project.

Recap of LGBT History Month in Stockport

Last night was the final event for the festival by the borough’s LGBT social group, People Like Us Stockport.

It was a light-hearted and jolly fun bingo night in the Arden Arms. Under the Rainbow went along and spoke to the group’s Chairperson, Chris Hassall, who explained what they got up to throughout the month.

We also asked people who they name as their LGBT hero.

National Festival of LGBT History - People's History Museum

LGBT History Month - It's Queer Up North?

February is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans History Month.

On Saturday the 6th, the Working Class Movement Library in Salford will be hosting an event about working-class men and same-sex desires in the 20th century.

It will include readings by ex-Smiths drummer Mike Joyce, and a talk by Helen Smith from the University of Lincoln. Under the Rainbow has been speaking with Helen.
