Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It can affect a person in numerous ways – in particular their libido. And some may struggle to discuss it with their doctor or their partner, due to feeling embarrassed.

This Saturday, The Lesbian and Gay Foundation are running a conference for healthcare professionals and people who are affected by prostate cancer.

Under the Rainbow has been speaking to Kathy McGuirk from the organisation – who explained why they are doing such an event for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people.

Each year more than forty-thousand men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK. It’s the most common male cancer.

Tonight, Under the Rainbow will be hearing about a support group for gay and bisexual men.

They’ve been speaking to the group’s Chairperson, Martin Wells.

He talked about how it’s reassuring to get advice from someone in the same situation.

To Russia With Love: Street and Stage is a theatre production which aims to highlight the challenges faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in Russia.

It’s a collaboration between the Vada Theatre Company, Polari Mission and the Work in Progress Theatre Company.

Under the Rainbow spoke to Stephen Hornby, the Artistic Director with Vada. He explained what inspired the project.

Jul 2013 - Homophobia in Football - John Leech

Manchester Withington MP, Liberal Democrat John Leech has recently asked questions in parliament about the problem of homophobia in football.

Last week he had a meeting with the Football Association about what they’re doing to tackle discrimination.

John Leech told Under the Rainbow that the FA are working towards making the game less hostile to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans players and fans – but there’s still more to be done.
