Oct 2014 - Campaign for Homosexual Equality

Tuesday marked fifty years since the beginning of the modern movement for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans equality in the UK.

In October 1964, Manchester hosted the first meeting of the North West Homosexual Law Reform Committee. This was at a time when homosexuality was still illegal.

Later the organisation was renamed to the Campaign for Homosexual Equality, and it continues to fight for LGBT rights today.

A plaque was unveiled on Manchester’s Deansgate, which marks the location of the first meeting.

Galley Beggar at St.John the Baptist Church, Heaton Mersey

Heavily influenced by the folk / rock music of the late 60’s and early 70’s, Galley Beggar talk to Rick and play some music off their upcoming sophomore album, simply titled Galley Beggar.

Mar 2012 - Unitarian Church Civil Parnership Licence

Same-sex Civil Partnerships have been law since 2004, but its only very recently been possible to hold them in religious buildings.

Manchester’s Unitarian Church has become one of the first places in the country to have a licence to perform a Civil Partnership Ceremony.

Reverend Jane Barraclough told Under the Rainbow about it.
