Cancer can affect anyone, and transgender people can face additional barriers to diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Next Tuesday Wythenshawe Hospital will be hosting an event looking at what can be done to ensure transgender people are adequately served by healthcare professionals.

Under the Rainbow heard from Ben Heyworth, the founder of the LGBT Cancer Support Alliance, and Tara Hewitt, from the University Hospital South Manchester NHS Trust.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It can affect a person in numerous ways – in particular their libido. And some may struggle to discuss it with their doctor or their partner, due to feeling embarrassed.

This Saturday, The Lesbian and Gay Foundation are running a conference for healthcare professionals and people who are affected by prostate cancer.

Under the Rainbow has been speaking to Kathy McGuirk from the organisation – who explained why they are doing such an event for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people.
