National AIDS Trust - Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or Prep for short, is a drug that, if taken daily, can reduce the risk of acquiring HIV.

A number of studies around the world, have shown that it’s very effective at preventing the transmission of the virus.

The Senior Policy and Campaigns Manager at the National AIDS Trust, Sarah Radcliffe, has been telling Under the Rainbow about the latest developments.

Sarah McQuaid in session for Roots & Fusion

Born in Spain, spent time in both Chicago & Ireland, now living in Cornwall – the wonderful Sarah McQuaid came into the Roots & Fusion studio to play some music.

Having just released her fourth and most intense solo album, Sarah’s R&F session comes near the end of one of her longest tours yet.

As well as playing four songs from Walking Into White (including one bookended by a some lovely a cappella singing), we had a chat about how the recording of this album was different to the others, and also about juggling family life and life as a touring musician.

May 2014 - Heather Peace

Actress and singer Heather Peace is known for her television roles in Lip Service, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road.

In 2012, she released her first album – Fairytales. Next month, she’s hoping her second album The Thin Line will get a good reception.

She’s also a patron of Manchester Pride – the annual lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community festival.

When Heather spoke to Pure’s Sara, she explained that she feels such events are still important.

If you’ve been looking for a greetings card for a same-sex couple, then you may have found there’s not much choice in high-street shops.

Pride to Be is a shop that aims to redress that balance, by providing cards that specifically represent same-sex relationships.

They recently opened their first shop in Manchester.

Under the Rainbow has been speaking to the shop’s owners – wives Lorraine and Sara.
